“Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.” — Oscar Wilde
The best advice that was ever given to me in my life was: « Rana, just be yourself ». Just this simple statement changed everything for me. It was the best advice I ever received! Just to be ourselves, in my dictionary, it means to be silly, weird, funny, present, aware, or whatever characteristics that makes us who we are. I believe everyone is different, yet not everyone has the courage to be unique. I also think that being authentic is important BECAUSE we are unique. Also as we learn to be more authentic, not only do we learn to be more ourselves, but we learn to let go of what we are not. We are afraid of what others might say or think of us. But the truth is, people will always think SOMETHING. So might as well embrace who we are and make the most out of it!
Everyone is unique. We come from different backgrounds, different families, different life experiences. I believe it is our past that brought us to this moment and it by understanding where we came from that we know who we are today. And it is this history that makes up our genetics and our personality. The way respond to life, to situations, to people, to stress and fear. It is unique to us. I think the more we are able to embrace our differences, the more we will be able to accept each other for who we are. As an individual and as a whole. This is key. Imagine if everyone accepted each other for who they were?
“To be authentic, we must cultivate the courage to be imperfect — and vulnerable. We have to believe that we are fundamentally worthy of love and acceptance, just as we are. I’ve learned that there is no better way to invite more grace, gratitude and joy into our lives than by mindfully practicing authenticity.”— Brené Brown
